Scattered thunderstorms may push into extreme southeast Kansas and far western Missouri today.

Storms are expected to remain below severe limits with small hail and wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour possible.

A weak frontal boundary will remain over the Ozarks and will interact with increasing afternoon instability.

Scattered afternoon thunderstorms will be possible with some of these storms approaching severe limits.

Wind gusts of 60 miles per hour and quarter sized hail also possible.

The greatest risk for severe weather will occur on Friday, depending on the amount of instability that develops.

The main severe weather risk would be damaging straight line winds.  If enough instability can develop,  then large hail could also be possible.
