JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Missouri Supreme Court is considering whether criminal defendants can be required to pay cash to be released from jail before trial.

The case is from St. Charles County, where a judge set a $75,000 cash-only bail for a man accused of invading people's privacy by using a concealed camera in a massage therapy business.

An attorney representing the defendant argued Wednesday before the state high court that the cash-only bail is unconstitutional in Missouri.

The St. Charles County prosecutor's office defended the constitutionality of cash-only bail.
