Update: Joplin Courthouse Closed After Storm
Crews are busy patching up the roof at the Jasper County courthouse in Joplin after storms rolled through this morning.
Presiding commissioner John Bartosh tells KTTS News strong winds peeled back part of the roof, sending styrofoam into nearby buildings.
"It took about half the roof off the Joplin courthouse building," Bartosh says.
"(The debris) went through the neighbors office window (and) busted some glass. Got pretty rough over there for a little bit."
Jasper County has two courthouses, one in Joplin, and one in Carthage.
The Joplin building is closed because of flooding on the third floor. The county is using the other courthouse in Carthage.
Jasper County emergency management director Keith Stammer says a car dealership also received some wind damage from the storm.
