Stolen Car Sparks Large Fire South Of Monett

The Barry County Emergency Management Director says a dozen fire crews spent Wednesday afternoon putting down several grass fires along BB highway.
They were ignited when a stolen vehicle being towed scraped the pavement. Sparks flew into dry grass, and the wind did the rest.
Several homes were threatened between Farm Road 1090 and Highway 37 south of Monett, but crews kept the flames away.
