Edited press release from the Baxter County Sheriff's Office

Not long after 5:00 Tuesday night, Deputies from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call stating two people fell off a bluff near the Bidwell Point Park on Lake Norfork. Bidwell Park is just north of the Hwy 101 Bridge.

Due to both people having severe injuries and because the location was so remote, the victims were boated to a pair of medical helicopters, then flown to a hospital in Springfield.

The victims were identified as 44-year-old Vernon Carl Henson and 49-year-old Elaine Renee Royer - both from Mountain Home. At the time the press release was sent out, their conditions were unknown.

Investigators say they heard from witnesses that the victims were going to jump off the bluff and into Lake Norfork, but missed. They fell around 35 feet and were found about 12 feet from the water's edge.
