Update: Fatal Crash Involved Newton County Deputy
There's new information regarding a fatal crash in Newton County.
The Joplin Globe reports the man who died was hit by a Newton County sheriff's deputy responding to an emergency call. The deputy has been placed on leave, which the sheriff says is common procedure anytime an officer is involved with a fatality.
A report from the Highway Patrol says Cory Sheppard was riding his motorcycle Friday night on business 71 just south of Joplin when he got rear-ended. He was 33.
