Seven Businesses Granted Exemption From Springfield Smoking Law
Five retail tobacco shops, a bingo parlor and a cigar bar have been granted exemptions from Springfield's indoor smoking law, following changes made by Springfield city council in May.
The Springfield-Greene County health department says the exemptions allow indoor smoking as long as no paid workers are present in the smoking areas, and the smoking areas are clearly labeled.
The seven businesses granted exemptions are:
Knights of Columbus Bingo Emporium, 2340 West Grand
Opus Cigar Bar, 300 Park Central East
Just For Him, 1334 E. Battlefield Road
Discount Smoke Shop, 2845 W. Chestnut Expressway7
Smoke's Outlet, 1446 E. Kearney St.
The Albatross Hookah Bar and Lounge, 320 E. Walnut
If owner or operators feel they are eligible for new exemptions. Contact Karen McKinnis, Division of Administration with the health department at 864-1623.
