City Council Calms Fears From General Council Of The Assemblies Of God
City leaders in Springfield are responding to claims made by the General Council of the Assemblies of God related to the changes being considered to city anti-discrimination law. The city attorney says federal law does not contain exemptions for sexual orientation and gender identity.
The area is new to the city's ordinance and religious exemption must be added since there is nothing in current code to address the employment category changes. Council could vote on those changes in two weeks.
