Springfield Opens New Police-Fire Training Center
Springfield Police Chief Paul Williams says it was 17 years ago when then Chief Lynn Rowe started looking for one place to train police and firefighters.
On Tuesday that search ended when leaders cut the ribbon on a new 28 thousand square foot center behind the police substation on west Battlefield.
The 5.2 million dollar center will also provide training for departments outside Springfield, agencies that might not otherwise be able to afford the expense of sending people to the University of Missouri Fire and Rescue Institute in Columbia.
