The Springfield Cardinals salvaged the final game of their series with the Hooks in Corpus Christi with a 5-2 victory Monday night.

The Cards scored three runs in the second and never looked back  but added two insurance runs in the 9th thanks to a homer from Oscar Taveras.

The Cards have the night off.  They return to Hammons Field on Wednesday to begin a series with the San Antonio Missions.

With the victory, the Cardinals season mark improves to 15 games over .500 at 67-52.
