Five Injured, One Taken By Helicopter In Stone County Crash
From A Southern Stone County Fire Protection Press Release:
Friday afternoon at Nauvou Road N. Of W. Hwy 86 Lampe MO Crews from Station 15, 3 and Medic 74 were initially dispatched for a single vehicle accident with unknown injuries.
While in route Central Dispatch upgraded the incident advising a single vehicle overturned with entrapment. Medic 74 arrived on scene and advised that they had 4 patients and requested a second EMS unit summonsing Medic 73 from the Branson West (north station) station, they also requested Life Line 1 (Mercy aircraft).
Duty Chief Carl Veneziano also requested that Rescue 6016 be added to the assignment to assist with the entrapment. Engine 6035 arrived on scene and updated the information while assisting EMS with patient care.
Fire Marshal Creswell arrived on scene and assumed command of the incident updating dispatch with five patients and no entrapment which cancelled Rescue 6016. Medic 73 arrived and began triage of the remaining patients as Medic 74 was committed to the critical patient 1 Red (critical), 1 Yellow (moderate injuries), and 3 Green (minor injuries).
The landing zone was changed from Trace Hollow to a field directly next to the incident with Engine 6153 and 6043 providing landing zone coverage. A third EMS unit was also requested summonsing the last Mercy unit from Branson West (north station).
Chief Veneziano arrived on scene and assumed an operations role assisting with patient care and overall management of the scene. All patients were treated, packaged, and transported with 4 going by ground to Skaggs and 1 flying via Life Line to Mercy in Springfield.
All crews did an outstanding job in the sweltering heat under extremely tough conditions. It's reported the group was from the LUC Boys Ranch in Lampe.
