FAYETTE, Mo. (AP) - A Missouri county jail inmate was captured after taking off in a deputy's patrol vehicle.

Greer allegedly assaulted the deputy, took keys and a weapon and fled. Howard County Sheriff Charlie Polson says the two other inmates stayed in the vehicle and had no role in the assault.

The car was spotted near Glasgow going up to 100 mph. With several law enforcement agencies searching. Greer was captured along a Howard County road.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports the deputy was later treated at a Boonville hospital.
