The new state-of-the-art Greene County Public Safety Center is officially open today at Scott and Booneville in Springfield.
The three-story, 56-thousand square foot facility is the envy of other agencies.
It can withstand an E-F5 tornado, like the one that hit Joplin.
The head of SEMA in Missouri, Paul Parmeter, says if something were to take out the headquarters in Jefferson City, this facility can easily be used as a back up.
The center will serve as a central location for responders during an emergency. It also houses 70 9-1-1 dispatchers.
