Missouri Voters Consider 7 Statewide Contests
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - The summer primaries are wrapping up with six statewide offices and a proposed constitutional amendment.
At the top of the ballot Tuesday is a high-profile Republican U.S. Senate campaign that features Congressman Todd Akin, businessman John Brunner and former Missouri Treasurer Sarah Steelman.
The winner will challenge Democratic U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill in a fall campaign likely to attract national attention.
Voters also will be deciding candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, state treasurer and attorney general.
A proposed constitutional amendment dealing with prayer also is on the ballot.
Voters choose one political party's ballot. The polls on Tuesday are open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Anyone waiting in line to vote by 7 p.m. will be permitted to cast a ballot.
