(Missourinet)  - Missourians looking to get a tan may want to think twice about how they plan to achieve that dark glow this summer.

More than two million Americans will be diagnosed with skin cancer this year due to overexposure from ultraviolet radiation from the sun and inside a tanning bed.

Medical experts from the University of Missouri say the amount of exposure to the sun or a tanning bed can determine how much harm will be done to your skin.

The best or safer way of getting color to your skin would be to minimize exposure or use a spray tan or fake tan that can be purchased over the counter and is not that expensive.
