A petition asking for a state audit of the city of Marshfield has been turned into state Auditor Tom Schweich's office in Springfield.
City councilman Bill Schroder is heading the effort. He says the city is facing some major financial issues and the city needs a "fiscal check-up".
The city will have to pick up the tab for the cost of the audit.
