Springfield Couple Found Dead On Fremont Named
Police say the two people found dead in a house on south Fremont in Springfield were Jason Nickols and his wife, Doris.
Investigators say the case is currently being treated as a homicide, but are not looking for a murderer.
An autopsy is scheduled for later today.
Officers showed up at the house on Fremont near University Monday morning after co-workers became concerned and found stacked-up newspapers and mail at the house.
Neighbors say they heard the couple fighting a few days earlier.

For Immediate Release: Homicide Investigation
Yesterday at 10:06 am officers were dispatched to 1721 S Fremont for a check the well being call at that location initiated by family members and co-workers who were concerned due to an uncharacteristic absence from work. Co-workers checked the residence and found stacked up newspapers and mail along with both cars in the driveway.
Upon arrival, officers found two deceased subjects; Jason Nickols, 41 yoa and his wife Doris Nickols, 51 yoa inside the residence. Officers immediately cleared the home and secured the scene for the Criminal Investigation Section who are currently treating the case as a homicide.
An autopsy is scheduled for later today and the investigation is ongoing.
