Springfield, Mo. (July 29, 2012) -- Today dozens of volunteers will be at The Salvation Army's Family Thrift Store - located at 1737 S. Campbell Ave. - helping the organization get ready for its 2012 Back-to-School assistance program, which takes place on Monday July 30.

From 2:30 pm until approximately 6 pm, volunteers will pack back packs and sort school supplies for nearly 1,000 children who will receive assistance this year. They will also help Salvation Army staff prepare the thrift store for the hundreds of families, children and other volunteers who will stop by during tomorrow's single-day event.

Due to the overwhelming number of families that signed-up for The Salvation Army's back-to-school assistance program this year, many more volunteers are now needed from 4 pm until approximately 8 pm on Monday July 30. To sign-up to volunteer or for more information please call (417) 763-1357.
