Flames Take Out Travel Trailer, Other Vehicles

Southern Stone County Fire Protection District crews were dispatched to a reported vehicle fire on Reuben Lane in Branson West.

Further 911 calls indicated multiple vehicles and a structure.

Two Stone County Sheriff Deputies arrived and used fire extinguishers to keep the fire from extending into the adjacent homes.

The homeowner and neighbors tried to put the fire out with garden hoses.

The fire consumed several vehicles, a travel trailer and other material in the field.

One home was damaged and the fence of another home burned.

The fire was contained to less than one acre.

The property owner stated he was burning a stump earlier today and thought it was out.

The homeowner thought that is was OK to burn with the rain we received.

This goes to show that it is still very dry and that any persons burning should always make sure their burn pile is completely out.

However, we discourage any outside burning at this time.
