A man who escaped from the Dade County Jail this week has been captured near Greenfield.

Sheriff Steve Stapp says a farmer working in a field called the authorities and told them he had given William Korry Smith a bottle of water. Several agencies were called to track Smith along a creek bank where he gave up without a fight about two and a half hours later.

Stapp says Smith was covered with numerous cuts and bruises as he was not wearing shoes or a shirt.

Smith was found at a home with a meth lab Wednesday night, but jumped out a window and ran into the woods.
