Western Taney County Fire Says House Was Fully Engulfed

Western Taney County Fire District firefighters responded to the report of a fully engulfed structure fire in the 700 Block of Shelton Road South of Branson.

When Firefighters arrived, there were several buildings and vehicles on fire and a fire that was spreading into the woods.

Due to the remote location, when the fire was discovered, there were multiple mobile homes, vehicles, boats, and RV's on fire which were all parked close to each other on the property.

Firefighters were hampered by the high temperatures and also the remote location of water to fight the fire which had to be hauled in by truck.

Additional firefighters from Omaha Fire Department assisted with extinguishing the blaze.

Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion on scene but neither firefighter required transportation to the hospital.

One woman was evacuated from a nearby mobile home but was not injured.  Unfortunately, one dog could not be rescued and perished in the fire.

Firefighters were on scene for approximately 2 1/2 hours to completely extinguish the fire which included about 1 1/2 acres of woods adjacent to the location where the fire started.

Owners of the property reported problems with the well over the past several days leading up to the fire being discovered but due to the extent of the damage, the cause of the fire was ruled undetermined.

Several people who lived at the address were displaced by the fire but were able to stay with relatives in the area for the time being.
