JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - Two Joplin women are charged with child endangerment after one of the women's 3-year-old daughter was hospitalized weighing only 12 pounds.
Jasper County authorities charged 26-year-old Beth A. Williams and her roommate, 27-year-old Christina M. Haidle with first-degree child endangerment.
Williams took her daughter to the hospital on July 1.
The Joplin Globe reports a probable cause statement says the girl had a body temperature too low to register and a pulse so faint that CPR was performed at the hospital.
Doctors at a Springfield hospital said the girl was suffering from chronic malnutrition. She is currently with a foster family.
The two women are each being held on $500,000 bond.
Court records do not indicate that the women have attorneys.
