2 Women From Joplin Charged In Child Endangerment Case
A 3-year-old is fighting for life at a hospital in Springfield, and the mother and her roommate hit with child abuse charges in Jasper County.
Police in Joplin say 26-year-old Beth A. Williams, the mother and 27-year-old Christina Haidle were arrested and charged over the weekend.
Back on July 1, police say officers were called to a home in the 1400 block of South Pennsylvania about a child being unresponsive.
The child was first taken to Freeman Hospital where doctors discovered the child, who was showing signs of being emaciated had low body temperature and blood sugar.
The critically ill child had not been given proper amounts of food and water and weighed barely 12 pounds.
Investigators say the child was air lifted to a hospital in Springfield and doctors were unable to find any medical reason for the severe malnutrition.
Williams is to be in court Thursday, and her bond is $500,000., and the same court date and bond amount have been set for Haidle.
