Update: Flames Destroy Large Wooden Home In Christian County
Fire crews in Nixa say the flames were so intense when they got to a burning house on Riverdale Drive, that it went up too quickly to be saved.
Assistant Fire Chief Whitney Weaver tells KTTS News the house was 5000 square feet - mostly made of heavy timber. Due to the size of the fire, first-arriving units called for help from departments all over Christian and Greene Counties - mainly to truck in water, but also to provide extra manpower.
Weaver says the family made it out uninjured. One firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion. Investigators are still working out how the fire started.
