8th Annual Red Tuesday Blood Drive Will Offer Extra Incentives
Community Blood Center of the Ozarks’ (CBCO) is proud to present the largest one-day blood drive of the year. The 8th annual Red Tuesday Blood Drive will be held Tuesday, July 24th, from 7 am to 7 pm at CBCO’s Campbell Donor Center, 220 W. Plainview Rd. (Please note the Reser Donor Center on south Glenstone will be closed on July 24th).
Participants on Red Tuesday will receive two general admission tickets to a Springfield Cardinals game and an event t-shirt with the Cardinals 8th anniversary logo. Hardee’s will provide free breakfast, lunch or dinner at the drive. Participants will also be automatically registered to win autographed Cardinals gear, upgraded ticket packages, or even the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a Cardinals game! Selected Cardinals players will be on hand at different points during the day. Team mascot Louie will make an appearance, as will the Louie Girls!
Red Tuesday was established in 2005 to encourage community support for the urgent need for blood during the summer. Since that time, it has grown to become the largest single-day blood drive in the region. The entire community is encouraged to wear red on July 24th to show support for the Cardinals and the lifesaving efforts of blood donors. Over 4,300 blood donations have affected thousands of lives over the course of the first seven Red Tuesday events.
“The Red Tuesday Blood Drive rewards participants with great gifts, but it also has a tremendous positive impact on area hospital patients,” CBCO Marketing Manager Chris Pilgrim said. “The timing of the drive is perfect, as it helps us to avoid potential shortages during the heat of the summer. It’s a fun event and a lifesaving one as well.”
It takes around 275 blood donations each day to meet the needs of local patients. For more information on Red Tuesday, log on to www.cbco.org. On behalf of patients across the region, thank you for giving life to your community.
