Brush Fire In West Springfield, Smoke Closed Part Of West Bypass
Visibility was near zero for several hours around West Bypass and Grand in Springfield.
A 5-acre brush fire started climbing trees and producing so much smoke that fire officials closed all northbound and southbound lanes.
Battlefield Fire Captain John Keneall tells KTTS News they don't know what started the fire, but no homes or businesses were ever in any danger.
The fire at one point did creep up to the edge of the road.
