(MoNET) - Don't think the drought assessment in your area is quite right?

State Climatologist Pat Guinan says the U.S. Drought Monitor gives people a way to contribute information.

Just Google "drought impact reporter" and you will be taken to a website.

The U.S. Drought Monitor is one tool federal officials use to make decisions on whether to approve the governor's request for a disaster declaration.

Guinan says people updating the monitor need all the information they can get.

He also says he can't predict if the governor's request for a disaster declaration will be approved, but people do need to contact the  Drought Monitor...he says this is no doubt a historic drought, and some areas of the state have not seen triple-digit temperatures in 80 years.
