ST. LOUIS (AP) - Missouri highway officials have chosen a team led by Chicago and St. Louis construction companies for a $125 million bridge project at the Missouri River in suburban St. Louis.
The new Interstate 64 bridge near Chesterfield will replace a more narrow bridge that has stood since 1935. The project also will include a bike lane and a new interchange for nearby roads.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a design-build contract to the Walsh-Alberici team. The joint venture includes Walsh Construction Co. of Chicago, J.S. Alberici Construction Co. of St. Louis and the Kansas City-based design firm of Burns & McDonnell Inc.
Construction is to begin next year and be complete by the end of 2015.
