Edited news release:

The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools and Kum & Go will partner for the third year in a row to bring Gallons for Growth on Thursday, July 12th.  Gallons for Growth is a 24-hour fundraising event to benefit the students of Springfield Public Schools.  Kum & Go will donate 3 cents from every gallon of gas sold on July 12th to the Foundation.

Since its beginnings in 2010 Gallons for Growth has raised $15,000 for Springfield Public Schools.  “Through Kum & Go’s support and the efforts of our community, this event has made a big impact on our students,” said Natalie Murdock, Development Director for the Foundation.  “The dollars raised through this event will help the Foundation provide funding to schools across the district to implement new classroom projects and purchase new equipment and needed technology,” added Murdock.  The funds raised through Gallons for Growth will help benefit the Foundation’s Back to School grant program which provided over $160,000 to Springfield Public Schools in 2011.

There are 38 participating Kum & Go stores, all located in Springfield.  “One of Kum & Go’s core values is Caring,” said Kyle J. Krause, Kum & Go President and CEO.  “That is why our company philosophy includes sharing 10% of our profits with charitable and educational causes each year in the communities we serve.  We are honored to contribute to this great cause in Springfield.”

The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools raises, manages and distributes funds to benefit the students and teachers of Springfield Public Schools.  It is the vision of the Foundation to provide educational excellence for every child by working with the community and the school system.  To learn more about the Foundation or to make a gift click here or call 417-523-0144.
