7 More Confirmed Heat Deaths In St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis medical examiner's office has confirmed seven more deaths from to the heat, bringing the total number of heat-related deaths in the region to 12 since the heat wave began last month.
Ten of the 12 deaths have been in the city of St. Louis, one in St. Louis County and one in Madison County, Ill.
Six of the seven latest victims ranged in age from 62 to 84. The other was a child. Authorities say 8-year-old Altamesa Dobson died Friday after she was found in a room without an air conditioner, though other rooms in the apartment had air conditioning.
The city of St. Louis had 10 straight days of 100-degree weather before Sunday.
