Update: Back Door Was Blocked By Flames
Four people escaped a fire unharmed this morning and Springfield fire officials say the fire was set on purpose.
Fire Marshal Mark Epps tells KTTS News crews were called to the 2100 block of North Pierce near High Street.
When they got there flames about six feet high were climbing up the back door of the house where a tub filled with a combustible liquids had been placed.
Epps says this fire was intentionally set, and a very mean thing to do, blocking a way out of the house... he goes on to say someone meant to hurt the family living there.
Police are searching for a couple of people to question.
