JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - A Jefferson City man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his estranged wife at a McDonald's restaurant where she worked part-time.
The Jefferson City News Tribune reports that 49-year-old Keith Kellner will have no possibility of parole under the sentence he received Thursday in Cole County Circuit Court. A jury convicted him earlier of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
Prosecutors said Kellner confronted 44-year-old Pam Kellner in December 2010 and shot her in the chest as they talked at a booth in the fast-food restaurant. His lawyer had argued that Kellner fumbled with the gun and intended to kill himself.
Witnesses testified Kellner was upset that his wife was leaving him. The couple also worked together at the Missouri Department of Revenue.
