Cooling Centers Open Because of Heat Advisory

Because of the heat advisory in effect for the area until Saturday at 7 p.m. , the Springfield-Greene County Health Department has opened cooling centers in the area.

Ozarks Technical Community College (Commons) 933 E.Central
Salvation Army, 1707 W. Chestnut Expressway
YMCA, 1901 E. Republic Road, 417 S. Jefferson Ave.
Chesterfield Family Center lobby, 2511 W. Republic Rd.
Doling Family Center lobby, 310 E. Flamage St,
Medico Ice Park lobby, 635 E. Traffic way.
Cooling centers are open to the public and meant to provide relief for those who otherwise do not have access to air conditioning.
City Utilities is also offering free rids to centers along city bus routes.
The Park Board is extending pool hours.
Springfield Animal Control has suspended trapping animals.
