Elderly Woman Raped In Monett

The hunt is on for a man who raped an 84-year-old woman in Monett over the weekend.
Police Chief Tim Schweder tells KTTS News the attack was so sudden the victim has not been able to tell them much.
Detectives have been able to collect some evidence, like blood from the scene, but they don't have a good description of a suspect.
The suspect did steal the woman's purse and medic alert button.
He says the suspect got in the house through a garage door that was left open.
With that thought still in mind, Schweder says that is something you should never do, even in a small town where you know just about everybody/
He adds people in larger cities do it, too.
Police are urging you to contact authorities if you know something about this crime.
