Homeless advocate Reverend Larry Rice is in Springfield today looking for someone to lease his group an acre of land so he can set up a tent community.

He says it would keep the homeless from living in the woods in several areas across Springfield.

"Through the utilization of public media in St.Louis, I had one plot donated to us, and another plot that we leased. But we plan to move ahead because we have to."

Rice is also taking a group of homeless to the Battlefield Mall to cool off from the heat and apply for jobs.

He's looking for volunteers and donated bus tickets.

A spokeswoman says the Mall is aware of Rice's plans, but has no comment.
