Nixon Urging Caution With 4th Of July Nearing
(Missourinet) - We're heading into another week of stifling heat and withering dryness around Missouri.
This week is likely to be even more dangerous because more people will be playing with fireworks on the 4th of July.
Governor Jay Nixon is urging everyone to be extra cautious during the current hot weather and dry spell.
Nixon says the national guard is getting additional training in the event they're needed to help local departments fight fires.
Nixon says brush grass, hay and other kinds of fires have been reported in 23 counties in the past several days.
Many communities around the Ozarks have imposed burning bans and are banning the use of fireworks because of the hot and dry conditions.
