Update: 40-Acre Grass Fire South Of Ozark Caused By Fireworks
Fire officials in Ozark say they can't stress enough how important caution is when using fireworks, and they have a large burned pasture to use as an example.
The farmer who owns the land off Old Prospect and Elk Valley tells fire crews he lost 40-acres of pasture, which includes his entire winter stock of hay bales.
Officials remind the Ozark and Nixa fire districts are under a burn ban due to the hot and dry conditions. They say if you absolutely must use fireworks, do so on a hard surface like asphalt or concrete - making sure to have a bucket of sand or water to put out anything that may start a fire.
