Fire District Unable To Issue Fireworks Or Burn Ban
Information provided by Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District . . .
As the dry conditions and increased temperatures continue throughout Southwest Missouri, so do the concerns about the potential for devastating fires originating from the use of consumer fireworks. The Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District has received numerous requests from concerned citizens about the current weather conditions and the potential for fires. The Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District unfortunately cannot issue any type of restrictions disallowing the discharge of consumer fireworks.
There is no doubt that the current situation is critical and the potential for fires is very real. The Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District is encouraging families to use extreme caution when choosing how to celebrate over the next several days. If your plans must include outdoor cooking or the discharge of consumer fireworks a water source should be readily available.
Residents can also take steps to protect their home from fire by cleaning out gutters, removing debris from roofs, clearing combustible materials from around the structure, and establishing a safe distance area between the structure and wooded areas. As always the fire district recommends having a working smoke alarm and an established escape plan that is well known by all those residing in the home.
