ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) - A former St. Joseph Girl Scout troop leader will serve 10 days in jail and be on three years of probation for stealing cookie money from her troop.

Twenty-three-year-old Stephanie Morris admitted in May that she stole $3,522 from her St. Joseph troop's bank account and cookie money.

She was sentenced on Thursday.

Prosecutors recommended probation because Morris had no prior criminal history.

The St. Joseph News-Press reports Morris has already paid $450 and will start a new job in July.

Her attorney said Morris was in financial trouble when she took the money.
