City Of Fair Grove Unilateral Burn Ban

(Fair Grove, Missouri) -- The City of Fair Grove, Missouri will hold a news conference at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. This news conference will be held at the Fair Grove City Hall, at 81 S Orchard, in Fair Grove. 

The purpose of this news conference is to announce a comprehensive burn ban for the incorporated city limits of Fair Grove, Missouri until further notice. This ban includes any and all open burning, and includes a complete ban on the discharge of all fireworks within the city limits.

The Fair Grove Board of Aldermen has instructed its mayor to make this emergency announcement, by proclamation, effective immediately, pending approval of this proclamation by the city attorney. The ban is to be administered by the Fair Grove Director of Emergency Management, with enforcement provided by Fair Grove City Police.

This burn ban request comes directly from fire officials with primary jurisdiction over the City of Fair Grove, which in this case, is the Fair Grove Volunteer Fire Protection District. Following this formal request, the city has activated emergency planning procedures, which are outlined by the city's municipal codes. 

More details on this process, on the emergency proclamation, as well as enforcement guidelines for the burn ban, and public safety information during the period covered by the ban will be announced following the reading of this proclamation.

Questions from the media will follow brief statements by Fair Grove Mayor Tim Smith, Fair Grove Volunteer Fire Protection District Chief Mark Raymond, and Fair Grove Director of Emergency Management Brian Way.
