High temperatures and low humidity were two factors taken into consideration when the Nixa Fire Protection District to issue a burn ban. While Assistant Fire Chief Whitney Weaver says the rule can only be enforced among permit holders outside the city, he is hoping everyone will follow the rule.

City leaders in Nixa say that as long as that ban in in place, fireworks will also been banned, even though current law allows fireworks on the fourth of July.

Weaver says with very dry conditions, any fire could quickly spread. He also says fireworks started a ten acre grass fire near Ozark earlier this week.
