Seniors Garrison and Phillips Earn MSU Year-End Awards

Missouri State's final set of year-end awards have been announced with the awarding of the 2011-2012 Outstanding Female Athlete Award and the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Senior Female Scholar-Athlete Award.

Basketball star Casey Garrison picked up the Outstanding Female Athlete Award as voted by MSU nine women's head coaches.

Garrison became just the sixth player in MVC  women's history to be named All-MVC first team player for four years in a row while leading the Lady Bears in scoring and assists. She led the team to a 24-9 overall record, the MVC championship and a trip to the WNIT for the third year in a row.

She closed out her career with 2.271 points to rank third in MVC history.

Distance specialist Terry Phillips is the winner of the 2012 Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Senior Female Scholar-Athlete Award. The award is given each year to the graduating woman with the highest cumulative grade-point average.

Phillips finished her academic career with a cumulative 3.99 grade point average in chemistry.
