St. Louis Symphony Musicians Reach 4-Year Deal
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Musicians with the St. Louis Symphony have a new four-year contract extension.
The symphony and the union that represents its musicians announced the deal Monday, 14 months before the current contract is to expire.
The new contract takes effect in September 2013 and goes through August 2017.
It calls for a total of 5 percent salary increases, raising the yearly minimum income from nearly $82,000 in fiscal year 2013 to roughly $86,000 four years later.
The pension contribution rate also will increase 1.5 percent during the contract.
The 132-year-old symphony is said to be the nation's second-oldest.
