Governor Nixon Signs Autism Funding Bill
More than 350 families on a waiting list to receive autism services will now be included in programs being offered by five regional centers in Missouri including the Burrell Center in Springfield. Governor Nixon has signed a bill that increases funding by 750 thousand dollars. Autism now impacts one in every 88 children nationwide.
Before he signed the bill in Springfield, Nixon reminded his audience it was in 2010 when he signed a bill that mandated insurance converge for autism therapies. Since then more than four thousand children and their families have been given help dealing with the neuro-biological disorder.
