The American Red Cross has launched its first official first aid app, putting free and simple lifesaving tips right into the hands of smart phone users.

The Red Cross app is free and easy to download. It gives everything from life-saving tips to disaster preparedness information anytime, anywhere.

The new app builds on the Red Cross legacy of teaching first aid and life saving skills to people around the country.

A spokeswoman says downloading the app is not a substitute for hands on training which is available at any Red Cross chapter in southwest Missouri.
