A man from Springfield will spend 12 years in prison after being convicted for involuntary manslaughter. The Greene County prosecutor says it was nearly two years ago when Matthew Brannon was speeding and drunk behind the wheel when his car crashed into another car near Mount Vernon and Kansas Expressway.

The collision pushed  the car driven by Kathryn Wells into a pole where it caught fire. Wells died before first responders could save her.

Court records show Brannon admitted to being "only a little buzzed", but his blood alcohol content tested at .159 percent. A crash reconstruction expert estimated Brannon was traveling at more than 70 miles an hour in a 45 mile an hour zone.
