Update: Investigators Have To Wait To Examine Burned Out Apartment
The assistant fire chief in Springfield says it may be another day before investigators can go back in and find the cause for a fire that damaged several units at Lake Shore Apartments.
Flames tore through one building Sunday night, forcing it to be evacuated. 15 people are now without a place to stay. They're being helped by the Red Cross.
The fire did so much damage, that city building inspectors will have to determine if it's safe for the fire marshal to start poking through the debris.
So far, there's been nothing to suggest the fire was set on purpose.
