Victims' Names Released In Crash That Tied Up I-44

A blown tire caused a chain reaction crash that wound up closing one direction of I-44 west of Springfield for a while. The Highway Patrol has released information about the victims.

According to a report, an SUV was headed west when a tire blew, sending it into a guard rail, then back into traffic. It was then hit by a semi.

All five people in the SUV are from Chicago. A man and woman  were seriously hurt, as was a five year old girl. They were wearing seat belts. Troopers say another man was not belted in, and got airlifted from the scene with moderate injuries. Another woman also had moderate injuries.

The semi driver was not hurt.
