Springfield Restaurants Will Have New Inspection Fee
Springfield is moving ahead with charging restaurants to inspect their grease traps.
Christian Grenier is the sous chef at Rebecca Grille, and he says the traps are there by law and are doing the job.
Interim city sustainability officer Barbara Lucks says grease from restaurants and homes is the number-one clogger upper of sewer lines.
Grenier says since the traps are required by law, how can all this grease the city talks about be coming from them?
Springfield has some 900 restaurants and the inspection fee will be 67-dollars a year.
