Springfield And St. Louis Cardinals Ready For Exhibition Game Tonight At Hammons Field
World Series MVP David Freese and the St. Louis Cardinals will be in Springfield tonight for a sold-out exhibition game against the Springfield Cardinals at Hammons Field.
Other Cardinals expected to make the trip north from Florida include Matt Holliday, Jon Jay, and several other former Springfield Cardinals.
Who won't be making the trip? Yadier Molina, Lance Berkman, Carlos Beltran, Rafael Furcal and all of St. Louis' starting pitchers.
Rain and cold kept them away last year, but gorgeous baseball weather will greet the teams tonight.
Springfield won the last game it played here against St. Louis in 2008 by a score of 10-3. That's the Double-A team's only victory in four games against the parent club at Hammons Field.
The game has been sold out for a year, and nearly 10,000 fans are expected to be in attendance.
First pitch tonight is 6:08.
